Own Shelf — Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 21, 2026

Overview

Own Shelf ("the App") is an EPUB reader for iOS developed by BuildsbyDT ("we", "us", "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the App collects, how it is used, and your rights.

Data Collection

Own Shelf does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. The App has no backend server and makes no network requests.

Data stored on your device only

Everything Own Shelf does happens entirely on your iPhone. EPUB files are opened, unzipped, and parsed directly on your device — no file or its contents are ever uploaded anywhere. The following data is created and stored locally using on-device storage (AsyncStorage and the app's sandboxed file system). None of it is sent to any server, cloud service, or third party:

No analytics, no tracking

Third-Party Services

Own Shelf does not integrate with any third-party services that collect user data. The App makes no network requests of any kind.

Children's Privacy

Own Shelf does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13. Since the App collects no personal data from any user, it is compliant with COPPA.

Data Retention

Since no personal data is collected or stored on our servers, there is nothing to retain or delete on our end. Data stored locally on your device persists until you delete the App or clear its data through iOS Settings.

Your Rights

Because all data stays on your device, you have full control:

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
